Puzzle Reviews, Features, & Collaborations

What I can provide:

I have reviewed or featured puzzles provided by Galison Puzzles, Passport Puzzles, Flipsi Puzzles, and Ninja Lion Games. Presently, I’m a proud member of Springbok Puzzles’ Ambassador Program.

To view some of my past puzzle reviews and features, take a look at the Examples page here on my site.

I’m an experienced writer, having spent nearly 10 years writing theatre-related features and reviews for a variety of outlets, including Exeunt, Playbill.com, and The Sondheim Review.

For your puzzle or product, I can provide:

  • High-quality images featuring your puzzle with your preferred dimensions, if requested

  • Feature or review of your puzzle on my Instagram (2500+ followers), featuring in-depth, well-written descriptions of the puzzle and puzzling experience

  • Video feature or review of your puzzle on my YouTube channel (1,000+ subscribers and over 4,000 watch hours, member of the YouTube Partner Program), featuring time-lapse footage and/or video content related to your puzzle

  • Review featuring several high-quality images (box, completed puzzle, image detail, close-ups of puzzle pieces) on my blog

  • Work with your brand to share upcoming releases, events, or promotions

  • In addition to puzzles, I am happy to feature puzzle-related accessories or apparel

Guidelines, Timing, & Communication

I have a few general guidelines that I like to share with puzzle companies before we work together. If your company has its own guidelines or expectations, I am more than happy to review your policies and make sure that I am able to agree to your criteria before creating content for your brand. With any collaboration I believe that communication is key.

General Guidelines:

  • When reaching out regarding a review, feature, or collaboration, either by email or by Instagram DM, please let me know your expectations.

    For example:

    • Are you open to either an Instagram post or a YouTube video?

    • Are you seeking a public-facing review of your puzzle or product? Or a feature (e.g., this could mean showing the completed puzzle or the box as part of a “puzzle haul,” or relaying information about your brand’s upcoming releases, events, or promotions)?

    • Is the feature or review you’re requesting tied to any particular date, holiday, or event (i.e., is there a deadline you’re expecting)?

  • I have a responsibility to my readers and viewers to provide them with my honest thoughts and reactions, and to provide them with transparency as to the provenance of items that I feature. What that means is:

    • Any item that is provided to me free of charge to review or feature will be properly tagged as “#gifted” on any Instagram posts or stories, or blog posts, and will be mentioned as such in any video content.

    • In the rare event that there is any quality control issue regarding an item that you provide (e.g., missing puzzle pieces, many bent or damaged pieces, etc.), I will make reasonable attempts to bring the issue to your attention prior to featuring the item. I reserve the right to mention any issue, along with its resolution (if applicable).

  • It is extremely important to me that any puzzle that you ask to be featured or reviewed must feature properly-licensed artwork, or your own in-house or legitimately commissioned illustration or photography. Ideally, the artist or photographer of the image should be credited (NOTE: I realize that some licensed artworks pose an exception to this regarding artist attribution). I reserve the right not to feature a puzzle at any time, or to remove content related to a puzzle, if it comes to my attention that the rights to an artist’s work have not been properly obtained.

  • Generally, I will accept items to be reviewed or featured which I respond to as a puzzler, and for which I will be able to turn around content within a reasonable timeframe within my current schedule. I love puzzles which feature:

    • vibrant, colorful imagery, including gradient puzzles

    • contemporary illustrations

    • vintage advertisements or retro imagery

    • intricate collages

    • prominent text within the puzzle image

    • themes or imagery promoting diversity and inclusion (including BIPOC/LGBTQIA+ artists and subjects)

    • literary themes

    • pop culture, film, or comic book illustrations

    • holiday themes (Christmas, Hanukkah, Halloween, Fourth of July, etc.)

    • cultural heroes (unsung or otherwise)

    • unique concepts or construction (differently-shaped pieces, innovative design, made out of unusual materials)

    • (among others)

  • If I decline to feature or review your puzzle at this time, I hope you won't take offense. Please keep in touch, and let me know about your brand’s latest products and initiatives. I’m sure we’re bound to find an opportunity to collaborate on the right puzzle, with the right image, at the right time!

Timing

Generally, it takes me about 1-2 months’ turnaround time between receiving a puzzle in the mail and featuring it on social media. This timing may vary, but I am happy to discuss your timing requirements.

Communication

Email or Instagram DM are the best way to keep in touch. If for any reason there is an unforeseen delay to providing content, I will give as much advance notice as possible. If, after we work together, you have any constructive feedback regarding content, I would love to hear from you as to what you feel could be improved. I am friendly and open to criticism as I learn and grow as a puzzler and content creator.
